Following a year like no other in recent memory, America deserves a Fourth of July filled with jubilation for the ideals and vision this country represents.

The day prior, however, offers cooperatives worldwide, credit union service organizations (CUSOs), and the credit union industry an additional day to celebrate.

It is in the spirit of partnership and the lifting up of our collective communities that we look forward to the International Cooperative Alliance’s (ICA) International Day of Cooperatives (#CoopsDay) Saturday, July 3rd. This year’s theme is “Rebuild Better Together,” chosen by the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC).

“In the last year, we have witnessed how the co-operative model has been working towards the well-being of people and respect for the planet, underscoring what the co-operative movement stands for,” said Bruno Roelants, director general of the ICA.

Observed worldwide since 1923 and formally publicized by the United Nations General Assembly on the 100th anniversary of the ICA in 1995, the International Day of Cooperatives is celebrated every first Saturday of July. This year, #CoopsDay will “showcase how a human-centered business model, sustained by the cooperative values of self-help and solidarity and the ethical values of social responsibility and concern for community, can reduce inequality, create shared prosperity and respond to the immediate impacts of COVID-19.”

QCash Financial hears that message of hope loud and clear, and has been proud to assist credit unions around the country in increasing financial inclusion for individuals and families through our frictionless, SaaS-based, mobile life event loan platform, QCash. Our commitment to the occasion’s “Rebuild Better Together” slogan offers the opportunity for everyday Americans and underserved consumers in depressed areas the access to fast cash they need to handle life’s unexpected emergencies.

Such synchronicity with our credit union partners and the cooperative movement overall enables us to fundamentally connect with this cooperative worldwide community, while consistently examining other avenues to further study and provide help in the years ahead. There will be much change and innovation ahead in the years following COVID-19, and for CUSOs like QCash the mission never ends in enabling America’s neighborhoods and communities greater financial strength and stability.

So, as we turn over those hot dogs and hamburger patties on the grill this coming Saturday and Sunday, comfort yourself in knowing that while the adjustment to this “new normal” continues, innovation towards a greater financial opportunity is on its way as well.

Happy Independence Day and International Day of Cooperatives!
